Explore Lake Anna and Central Virginia
Things to do when you finally emerge from your comfy Lakeside Chalet
About Lake Anna
Centrally located between Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, Lake Anna is one of Virginia’s largest freshwater inland reservoirs, covering about 13,000 acres and spanning parts of Louisa, Spotsylvania, and Orange counties. It was created from the North Anna River in 1972 by the Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPCO), now Dominion Energy, to serve as a cooling water source for the North Anna Nuclear Generating Station. With over 200 miles of shoreline, it has become a popular recreation area and is one of Virginia’s premier fishing waters, hosting a fish population of striped bass, largemouth bass, perch, crappies, catfish, and bluegill. Besides becoming a desirable location for lakeside homes and vacation spots, it's also close to many popular yearly events such as the Virginia Renaissance Festival and The Lake Anna Jazz Music Festival.
